Since beginning the oboe in the sixth grade, I have been playing for twelve years. I began giving lessons during my freshman year in college, and this will be my seventh year of oboe instruction.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mercer University, Macon, Georgia, with a minor in oboe performance in 2005. While attending Mercer, I was awarded both academic and music scholarships, which I maintained all four years. I studied oboe and English Horn under Mr. Adrian Gnam, conductor of the Macon Symphony Orchestra.
My oboe experience in college consists of:
- Mercer Wind Ensemble and Woodwind Quintet
- Macon Symphony and Sinfonia
- Mercer Wind Octet and Mercer Chamber Players
- Mercer/Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra
- Baptist Student Union Praise Band
- Member of Mercer University Pep Band
- International Conductors Symposium Performer
- Attendance and Instruction at Various Oboe Workshops
In addition to my experience, I have been hired to perform on several occasions:
- Christmas, Easter, and Special Music Performances for various churches: Forest Hills UMC, Vineville Baptist, Mt. Zion Baptist, First Baptist- Macon, Ingleside Baptist-Macon, Eagles Landing First Baptist-Stockbridge
- Various musicals and theatrical performances including Oklahoma with First Presbyterian Day School- Macon, GA
- Weddings as both a soloist and part of a small ensemble
- Eagles Landing First Baptist
Throughout my twelve years of oboe experience, I have been fortunate to receive several honors:
High School: Various Honor Bands, Most Outstanding Band Member, Most Outstanding Woodwind, Band Officer
College: All-College Honor Band, Selected to the 2005 National Wind Ensemble, which performed in Carnegie Hall, New York City
